KRyS Global Supports Young Entrepreneurs

Earlier this month, KRyS Global actively participated in the selection and awarding of the Vice President of Finance award in the Cayman Islands Junior Achievement Company Programme. This is KRyS’ 10th year in the Programme.

The Junior Achievement Company Programme encompasses business, entrepreneurship, and economics curriculum for students in grades nine through twelve. Students are encouraged to use innovative thinking to learn business skills that support positive attitudes as they explore and enhance their career aspirations. Through a variety of hands-on activities and technological supplements designed to support different learning styles, students develop a better understanding of the relationship between what they learn at school and their successful participation in a worldwide economy. Twelve volunteer-led activities are required over an 18 week programme.

Lee Hart of our Cayman office conducted the interviews of the candidates for the role of Vice President of Finance. His questions of the “finance officers” included an understanding of how they managed budgets and the break-even analysis for their particular JA company and product and about what the JA programme meant to them. Lee explained his impression of the young people he interviewed:
“I was overwhelmed by the high caliber of candidates I spoke with. It was extremely difficult to select the winner and any of them has a chance to be a successful business person at some stage in the future.” The winner was Martina Watler, finance officer of the JA Company Splash of Cayman.
