KRyS Global 30K takes to the road on October 30th

Cayman’s running community takes to the road again this month with a range of racing options to suit every runner. The KRyS Global 30K, Halloween 10 10 10 relay and the Fun 5K all take place in East End, Grand Cayman on Sunday October 30th. This is the sixth consecutive year for this suite of races, starting and finishing at Morritt’s Tortuga.
“All three races are sponsored by KRyS Global and we are grateful for their financial help and also assistance from their employees as volunteers,” said Derek Larner of organizers, Race Caribbean.
Anna Keating, Global Marketing Manager at KRyS Global states, “KRyS Global is very proud to sponsor this event for the third year and to assist in offering another unique course for Cayman’s running community to enjoy. KRyS Global is committed to promoting healthy lifestyles and what better way to start your Sunday than with a Caribbean sunrise and a refreshing sea breeze,” she added.
The 30K race is used by many of Cayman’s long-distance runners as a pre-marathon warm-up and falls just five weeks before the Intertrust Cayman Islands Marathon on December 4th. The race starts at 6 a.m. at Morritt’s Tortuga Resort with runners heading down the Queen’s Highway towards the north side of the island. Continuing on a large loop inland by Cayman’s beautiful Botanic Gardens and all the way back to the coast road. Runners will enjoy stunning sea views and other impressive sights such as Gun Bay and the Wreck of the Ten Sails, completing the 30K loop back at Morritts.
It was a second win for last year’s two individual 30K winners, Chadwick Webster and Helki Weber, who each won this race back in 2012. Chadwick displayed spectacular form as the course record holder when he completed the 30K in an astounding 2 hours and 3 minutes, shaving a whopping three minutes off the previous record, which he also set in 2012.
The Halloween 10-10-10 takes the same course as the 30K runners but is run as three legs of 10K per runner. Similarly, the 10-10-10 relay has also become a warm-up race for those teams participating in the marathon relay. The 5K race will start at 7am and is ideal for those who prefer to walk or run a shorter distance.
Those who wish to enter must pre-register and can do so either via www.caymanactive.com or can find registration forms here for the KG 30k Solo Run 2016; Halloween 10-10-10 Road Relay 2016; 5k Fun Run 2016.
Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to experience a completely different running course in Cayman. Many participants dress up, as there is a prize for the best costume.
